Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 29, 2026

House of Aumina (“the House,” “we,” “us”) is a small independent studio based in Ontario, Canada. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions are always welcome at hello@houseofaumina.com.

Who we are

House of Aumina is operated from Ontario, Canada. For any privacy matter, write to us at hello@houseofaumina.com.

What we collect

We only collect what we need:

  • When you join our correspondence: your email address, collected by Substack, which sends the letters.
  • When you book a reading: your name, email, and the details you choose to share when scheduling.
  • When you buy a reading online (the Line): your email address, so we can send your private link, and a record that your payment succeeded. The reading itself is stored so you can return to it.
  • When you give a reading: your name, the message you write, and the recipient’s email address, so we can send the gift.
  • When you carry a question to the Book of Carried Questions: your name, your email address, and the question you write.
  • When you visit the site: basic, mostly anonymous analytics (pages visited, general location, device/browser), gathered through cookies.

We do not collect payment card details on this site. Payments for online readings are processed by Stripe, which handles your card information under its own privacy policy; the House receives confirmation that a payment succeeded, never your card numbers.

When you take an online reading such as the Line, any question you write stays on your device. It is not sent to the House, stored by us, or shared with anyone. The written reading is composed from the deck you choose and the five cards drawn, and nothing else: an automated writing service (OpenAI) receives only the deck and the cards, never your name, your email address or your question. We store the cards and the reading so you can return to it through your private link.

The Book of Carried Questions

Unlike the Line, a question carried to the Book of Carried Questions is stored by the House: we keep your name, your email address, and your question exactly as you wrote it, together with the date and the consent you gave. We keep them for one purpose: to return your question to you by email one year later, in your own words. If you tick the optional box, the House may also sit with your question in its letters and rooms, always without your name. Your question is never shown publicly with your name.

A question stays in the Book until you release it: every yearly Return carries a release link, and one press permanently deletes your name, email, and question. You can also simply write to hello@houseofaumina.com. Releasing a question does not unsubscribe you from the correspondence, and unsubscribing does not release your question.

When you submit to the Book, your network address is noted briefly to prevent automated flooding and is discarded within minutes. It is not stored with your question.

How we collect it

  • Through forms on our website (hosted on Webflow).
  • Through our newsletter platform, Substack, when you subscribe to the correspondence.
  • Through Stripe and the House’s own secure systems, when you buy or give a reading.
  • Through Google Calendar, when you book a reading.
  • Through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, which use cookies to understand how the site is used.

Why we use it

  • To send you the correspondence and deliver the Book of Carried Questions.
  • To arrange and prepare for readings you book.
  • To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
  • To reply to you when you write to us.
  • To deliver the readings you buy or give, and to send you your private link.

We will never sell your information, and we will not send you marketing you didn’t ask for.

Consent (and how to withdraw it)

When you join the correspondence, you are giving us permission to email you. You can withdraw that permission at any time using the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of every email, or by writing to hello@houseofaumina.com. Withdrawing consent stops the letters; it does not affect readings you’ve already booked.

Who else can see your information

We share information only with the trusted services that make the House run:

  • Substack (the correspondence: sign-up, email delivery and subscriber management),
  • Webflow (website hosting and forms),
  • Google (Calendar bookings, Analytics, and Tag Manager).
  • Stripe (secure payment processing for online readings such as the Line).
  • Supabase (the Book of Carried Questions' private database),
  • Cloudflare (hosts the Line's secure systems and database, and carries Book submissions to their database),
  • Postmark (delivers the emails for your readings, such as your private link and gift invitations),
  • OpenAI (composes the written reading from the deck and the five cards drawn; it receives no personal information),
  • Resend (delivers the Book's emails, including the yearly Return).

Some of these providers store data on servers in the United States, which means your information may be processed outside Canada. We only work with providers that commit to protecting it.

Cookies and analytics

Our site uses cookies to measure traffic and improve the experience. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may work less smoothly if you do. Analytics are switched off on the page where you take your reading.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as you’re part of the correspondence or engaging with the House, and for a reasonable period afterward. Your purchase record and your reading are kept so you can return to your reading, and for our accounting records. If you’d like your information removed, just ask.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Write to hello@houseofaumina.com and we’ll respond within a reasonable time.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information and work only with reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your details with care.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and post the new version here.
